Fenway Park Birthday Cake

May 26, 2012

This cake was made for a little boy's 9th birthday who is a big Boston Red Sox fan, so obviously a Fenway Park cake was the only way to go. The boy's older brother requested a cake and I'm sure he was a bit hesitant when I referred to the "Green Monster" as a "person" rather than a "thing" =) But, thanks to him, I did my homework and made sure the cake was as true to form as a cake could be....from the color of the stadium seating to the placement of the signs and of course, the one and only Green Monster!! (which was a must!) The cake is chocolate covered in fondant with mostly all fondant details and decorations. And, most importantly, I'm now more educated on Fenway Park than I could have ever possibly imagined or wished! :)

Old Script Pitt Cake

May 20, 2012

First of all, YES, I took a lot of heat from people for this cake, but when it comes to cake, I don't discriminate against Pitt fans....sorry, people!! A friend of mine requested an "Old Pitt Script" cake for her husband's 29th birthday and since she told me he said it was "the best birthday cake ever," I'm extremely pleased with how it turned out....and here's Nate looking pretty happy with it as well =)

Golfer Birthday Cake

May 12, 2012

This golfer themed birthday cake was made for a guy's surprise 30th birthday party thrown for him by his girlfriend. She pretty much gave me the theme of golf and let me run with it. I've seen similar cakes and really thought the idea of the golfer trying to "blow in" the ball just short of the 18th hole was really cute. The entire cake is covered in fondant with fondant details along with the golfer and golf bag molded from fondant.

High Heel Cupcakes

May 6, 2012

I think we're on the verge of a new craze....high heel cupcakes!! I actually hadn't seen anyone make these until I was asked to make them for a bridal shower. They are absolutely adorable and the possibilities seem endless, which makes them even more exciting with which to experiment. The sister of the bride provided me with a few ideas, including the wedding colors and requested one pair of wedding shoes. What makes these fashionable creations even more appealing is that every element is edible and delicious (minus the baking cup) from cookie heels, chocolate covered graham cracker soles, and cupcake toes...& here are the results.

And, here's a picture of the high heels displayed at the shower, courtesy of the matron of honor & friend.
